NO REPRESENTATION without TAXATION!

May 24 2011 Published by under salt

It’s time to revisit the phrase that founded this nation – in reverse. We’ve got 53% makers & 47% takers in this country. That’s too close to a tipping point, gang. Way, way too close. Obama likes to talk about having a ‘stake in this country’ and ‘equalling the playing field.’ How about everyone having some skin in the game, too? A couple of other prominent Americans had thoughts on the security of our Republic, too:

‘A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51% of the people may take away the rights of the other.’

~Thomas Jefferson

‘When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic.’

~Benjamin Franklin

From The New York Times:

Is the Fair Tax Herman Cain’s Ace in the Hole?

Today's Economist

Bruce Bartlett has served as an economic adviser in the White House, Treasury and Congress.

Herman Cain, who announced Saturday that he was seeking the Republican nomination for president, spoke in March at the Conservative Principles Conference in Des Moines.Charlie Neibergall/Associated Press

On Saturday, the pizza magnate Herman Cain announced that he was running for the Republican presidential nomination. While he has to be considered a long shot, he has something going for him that could make him surprisingly viable: his strong support for the so-called Fair Tax.

The Fair Tax is a proposal that has been kicking around for at least 20 years. It would replace all federal taxes, including income and payroll taxes, with a national retail sales tax similar to those levied by the states. Indeed, a prime virtue of the Fair Tax, in the eyes of its supporters, is that it would be collected by the states, thus allowing for abolition of the hated Internal Revenue Service and an end to filing tax returns or keeping financial records.

15,000 at Cain Event! WOW!

May 22 2011 Published by under salt

From The American Thinker:

‘…The impressive size and staggering energy of the 15 thousand folks at Olympic Centennial Park gave the rally the feel of a winning movement. Sure, I am hardly objective. However, as a veteran of political rallies and campaigns off and on since 1980 — and a sometimes operative since 1992 — I do not reach that conclusion lightly. Frankly, I’ve never been to a political event that had this energy. The closest thing I can think of to describe it was the televised introduction of Sarah Palin in September of 2008 and a Reagan rally I attended in 1980 in Columbia, S.C.’

‘He don’t lie. He don’t lie. He’ don’t lie…. GO CAIN!

Buying Votes

May 18 2011 Published by under salt

Both parties do it, but that doesn’t make it right. Wrong is wrong. Dept. of Labor union hack Hilda Solis just announced a new $76M program to help get young folks employed; a noble goal, to be sure, but just take a gander at the states listed. Know what they all have in common? Darned near every single one is a crucial, critical, do or die battleground state in the 2012 election.

But I’m sure that’s a complete coincidence.

Dr. Eeyore Krugman is “Glass 1/2 Empty” Again

May 18 2011 Published by under salt

Once again, the big-brave-unafraid-to-have-their-assertions-challenged HE MEN at the New York Times will not publish a comment of mine (I’ll bet my house) so I thought I’d do it here. Parenthetically, I’ve cut & pasted quotes from their OWN NEWSPAPER, politely, and with links, using my best Queen’s English and they never, ever, publish those. It’s such a stupid thing to complain about but jeez. Have some stones!

Anyway… I digress. Krugman’s latest is pointing out… wait for it… hypocrisy… Yawn…

STOP THE PRESSES! POLITICIANS ARE HYPOCRITES! WHOA DADDY.

He’s obviously got his marching orders from Plouffe that it’s Santorum’s turn to get taken down so he points out something incredibly stupid he said in 2003. Yup. Dumb thing to say. My (never to be published, I’m sure, comment) is below:

Rules from childhood:

1. ‘Johnny did it too.’ doesn’t fly with Mom. You can’t point at Johnny as an excuse. You’ll get ‘If Johnny jumped off a cliff, would you do that too?’ from an exasperated Mom.

2. ‘Johnny did it first.’ ALSO doesn’t fly with Mom. You can’t point at Johnny as an excuse. You’ll get ‘If Johnny jumped off a cliff, AND WENT SPLAT would you BE SO STUPID as to do that too?’ from an exasperated Mom.

Republican or Democrat, R or D, is sooooooooooo last century. Promiscuity with the people’s money has been so pervasive in BOTH parties for so long that pointing at R or D is now officially passe. It’s time for INDIVIDUALS to be held accountable and VOTE THEM OUT. There’s no such thing as ‘collective’ salvation OR blame anymore. When you DIE you go to the Pearly Gates ALONE, St. Peter doesn’t call a (political) party of 5… or 535. Or 300+Million Americans. YOU ARE JUDGED ALONE.

And Eeyore? Hear his voice in your head saying “Oh nooooooo… It’ll never work…” and you will understand the ‘glass is half-empty’ ‘all GOP are evil’ ethos that oozes off him like the smell of vodka the morning after a hard night of drinking.

Peaceful Rhetoric

May 16 2011 Published by under salt

Scratch & claw like insurgents? That sounds an awful lot like violent rhetoric, Mr. President. Almost like you regard America as your enemy, but, of course, that’s patently ridiculous. It’s not like you ever talked about punishing your enem…

Nevermind.

PERFECT Reaction to INANITY!

May 15 2011 Published by under salt

Gregory

DAVID GREGORY, HOST: What, what about jobs? Jobless rate now at 9 percent. You gave a speech on Friday in Georgia, and you said the following about this president:

Videotape -> NEWT GINGRICH: You want to be a country that creates food stamps, in which case frankly Obama’s is an enormous success. The most successful food stamp president in American history. Or do you want to be a country that creates paychecks? (end tape)

GREGORY: First of all, you gave a speech in Georgia with language a lot of people think could be coded racially-tinged language, calling the president, the first black president, a food stamp president.

GINGRICH: Oh, come on, David.

What a PERFECT reaction!  Newt then goes on to remind David that those are FACTS… but, as we’ve all become all too painfully aware, even the mere observation of facts, of simple frigging data, is a reason to finger someone as a racist.  I won’t be voting for Newt in the primaries (I’ll vote for Bugs Bunny in the general, though), but NG gets props for a simply wonderful, purely human reaction to DG’s shameless, whore-ish, inanity.

See the whole clip & read the rest of the transcript at the always wonderful NewsBusters:

PREDICTION: Bin Laden Photo? October 2012 “Surprise”

May 05 2011 Published by under salt

It occurs to me that the withholding of the long-form death photo of Bin Laden is purposeful.

There’s a whole series of if’s involved which depend in a large part on amnesia & the notorious gymnastic flexibility of liberal principles (such as they are) but:

If his base doesn’t crucify him for the unilateral (no U.N. partners) decision to assassinate UBL…

If his base doesn’t crucify him for using executive authority (imperial Bush) to assassinate UBL…

If they are able to sustain their denial that waterboarding led directly to UBL’s lair…

If they are able to sustain their denial that Gitmo led directly to UBL’s lair…

…even if it is C.I.A. chief Panetta, AP, NYT, HuffPo, and dozens of other so-called reputable news organizations reminding us that only 3 guys were water-boarded and both of the critical leads, the nickname, then the real name of the courier, came from policies Obama eviscerated Bush for

It will be OOPSIE! –  Leaked as an October Surprise in 2012.

It will make him look butch to the independents, corral a few rudderless GOP, and by then, the base will be so thoroughly propagandized & brainwashed they won’t care anymore…

FlyOver ObAmerica

Apr 20 2011 Published by under salt

At least Bush LANDED in New Orleans… Bam-Bam has literally relegated this past weekend’s devastation to flyover country at 35,000 feet, AF1 and his nose so high in the sky… All the better not to see the vast swaths of wreckage in tornado alley in the midwest. I mean… Please! He could be down there being his \”brother’s keeper\” teaching Sasha & Malia in a very real and concrete way about all the crap he trots out in the same damned commencement speech he’s given every spring for 15 years about \”service\” and \”hitching your star\” to something bigger than yourself and your own material desires… Or he could attend the one year anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon blowout which is today. But there’s $1 billion to be raised and teenagers to propagandize and celebrities to shake down on the Left Coast.

…Random Thoughts…

Apr 11 2011 Published by under salt

1. Nobody ever considers that the redistribution Obama is gunning for is from rich AND poor Americans to EVERYONE OUTSIDE AMERICA. Boy won’t they be hacked off when they figure THAT out, huh?

2. I wonder what the hell the bio company Andy Stern’s got involved with is up to?

3. What’s going on with Puerto Rico statehood scam?

4. How badly are we being scr*wed with the Census calculations now that Bam-Bam’s got them an office right down the hall from the Oval?

5. Will we still have the internet the way we have it now a year from now? Two or three years from now?

6. Too few people realize that the survival of the Republic requires that Obama not be elected to a second term, and we’d damned sure better vet whoever runs so we don’t get in this fix again.

7. I’m tired. I want my life back. I don’t want to worry about this anymore. If Mike & I didn’t have kids, we’d sell everything and leave. Go find some island somewhere and disappear… But I’ve got to do what I can to keep the America I love alive for my girls. How did this happen??? *sigh*
