It’s 3am

Sep 18 2011

Sometimes I feel so deeply happy I gotta share it.

Not mirthful, mind you. Life’s daily troubles still interfere with any sort of mythic serenity, but *content.*

There’s not a day that goes by I am not grateful to have a view of the ocean. Seeing the sun rise over that magnificent body arrests me and rights me; tunes me like piano.

Of course, at the onset of a New England winter, the wind on shore can be less than spiritually uplifting. Towards that end, Mike’s got a guy coming out next week to give us an estimate on putting a heat generating insert into a our wood-burning fireplace. That’s a start, but what we really need (aside from new windows!) is another whole fireplace for our living room. Cathedral ceilings are lovely, but the one room we have them in, the family room – where we spend 90% of our time – has a wicked draft.

It’s like the cobbler’s kids. Always the ones with holes in their shoes. I’m married to a guy who’s in the window business. Has a whole warehouse full of guys building them every stinking day and I can’t get a window…

Grrrr….. (and Brrr…. ;)

So much for serenity at 3am.
