Extraoplating we will go, extrapolating we will go…

… Hi ho the merry-o, extrapolating we will go…

From a post in today’s White House Blog, Today’s Health Care Court Cases

inactivity

Do these people ever think about what they are saying? They are saying that choosing not to engage in economic commerce (the purchase of insurance) is, by the act of not acting, engaging in economic commerce… So, basically, anything you don’t do, is their business because it affects all of us.

If I don’t fart I might explode.  Are you going to tax me for that too? Because if I act, and let it fly that will affect some of us (those nearby) but if I hold it in, choose not to act, and explode that will affect more of us (interstate commerce with airline tickets for in-laws to come from CA to MA for the funeral, my estate and other monies left behind which will be put into commerce in multiple states…)

So, since we’re talking about farts like a ten year old, let’s really extrapolate like one, because that’s about all it takes in baseline reasoning skills to extrapolate this out to its inane conclusion. Here’s just three I can think of, right off the top of my head, based on their premise, in their exact words:

  • Individuals who choose to go without ____________ are actively making an economic decision that affects all of us.
  • Children. If you don’t have them, you will crash the economy.  No more Babies-R-Us, school buses, school supplies, teachers’ unions, on and on…  Therefore, the gov’t says – MANDATED PROCREATION.
  • Sex. If you don’t have sex, you might not have children.  If you do have sex, you will need birth control if you choose to be the selfish S.O.B. in #1, so you’ll crash the condom industry.  Either way, you’re screwed!  Hah!  Therefore, the gov’t says, SCREW.
  • Television.  If you don’t watch it, you will crash the advertising industry, never mind MSNBC propaganda… Oh… wait.  Nobody watches them anyway!  Well, you’ll crash advertising, which, in turn, will crash any number of household item manufacturers, therefore, the government says – BUY A TELEVISION.

Do you see how insane this is?  And inane?  EVERY decision we make, to act, or NOT to act, if made EN MASSE, IMPACTS ECONOMIC ACTIVITY.

Bad enough they think WE’RE stupid, but do they REALLY think this is a LEGAL argument? REALLY?  Because this is what they’re using.

Wow.

Hi there, just found your page from mixx. It’s not blog post I would typically read, but I liked your perspective on it. Thanx for creating something worth reading!
