There are certain websites I visit every morning on my “rounds.” I return to them often multiple times throughout the day as they are constantly adding new content. Of course X is the most prominent among them, but I also have some other sites I rely on for news and analysis so I thought I’d share those too.
Citizen Free Press is what Drudge used to be before Drudge went insane. It’s a constantly evolving list of headlines. CFP doesn’t operate on a subscription model but rather donations, and I donate to them with some regularity, I find them that invaluable. You don’t have to to get their content. It’s all 100% free.
Twitchy is an indispensable X curation site. They curate the best, most interesting, outrageous, sometimes just flat-out-funny X posts and interlace them with pithy commentary. I pay an annual subscription to them to help keep them going, I find them that good. You don’t have to to get most of their content, but there are some which are “VIP” therefore subscription only.
American Thinker is a wonderful conservative news analysis site. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come away from an article or blog post there having learned something new, and that’s about the highest praise I can give any website. They too are subscription based if you want to eliminate the ads, but 100% of their content is free to read, you just have to tolerate the ads which aren’t obtrusive just visually noisy. Meaning they won’t make it impossible to read as so many sites do, they’ll just… be there… being ads. I happily pay an annual subscription because I want to support them more than wanting to get rid of any ads, but that’s a nice benefit.
Conservative Treehouse is absolutely essential reading if you want to be waaaay ahead of the news cycle and understand exactly what’s going on waaaaay before 90% of everyone else gets it. I don’t know who this guy is, some say he’s a supermarket manager who’s just wicked smart, but I don’t know, nor do I particularly care. All I know is I’ve been reading him for at least a decade and the guy is a friggin’ oracle. I don’t know how he does it, but he’s consistently, accurately prescient. You do not have to pay to get any of his content. It’s 100% free, but I know he appreciates donations, which I make to help keep him going. I’m happy to pay for such good content!
Real Clear Politics aggregates a wide ideological variety of articles and that’s what I like about it. It’s also 100% free. In addition to scanning the home pages of The New York Times and The Washington Post to see what they are up to, I always scan RealClear. They usually pair ideologically opposed articles one after the other on their list, which they update twice a day, in the morning and the late afternoon. Checking both NYT and WaPo, along with Real Clear is invaluable to keep ahead of whatever the latest liberal narrative is.
