The Washington Post Editorial Board got something sort-of right, but they’re a day late and a dollar short, as usual. On Friday morning July 11th, they called for a fulsome investigation into Biden’s health as Commander-in-Chief. Great job, boys. You could have done this (at least) six months before he left Office instead of six months after, but I guess late is better than never.
And even then, they try to “both sides” it. They begin:
Former president Joe Biden’s onetime personal physician, Kevin O’Connor, announced on Wednesday that he would plead the Fifth before the House Oversight Committee rather than discuss Biden’s fitness while in office. Republicans claimed this was evidence of a “cover-up.” Democrats dismissedthe House probe entirely, insisting that Biden’s health issues were overblown.
Both are getting this wrong.
What’s “wrong” with “cover-up”? Of course it’s a cover-up! The Ed. Board even admits it later in the piece, albeit obliquely:
Reporting since Biden left office suggests he frequently forgot top aides’ names and needed to use a teleprompter even for minor events. His Cabinet meetings were scripted. He often struggled to keep up with the long hours the job requires, with O’Connor frequently recommending more rest. His aides also reportedly tried to hide his frailty from the public.
“Reporting since Biden left office…” “Since” being the operative word. Democracy does indeed die in darkness, fellas. Where the hell were you when the rest of us were pointing and yelling “Hey! The old man’s daft!”?
These reports raise legitimate concerns that Biden’s health threatened national security and continuity of government.
You don’t say… Hey remember when you guys were the talk of the town as investigative journalists? I remember.
I won’t bore you with the rest. Just know these guys are beyond parody at this point. There’s no saving them, just pointing and shaking our heads every time they day-late-and-dollar-short a thing that’s been howlingly obvious to the rest of us for ages.
