How Grown Ups View FACTS of this "Health Care Reform" Legislation

Mar 22 2010 Published by under Health, health care, Obamacare

1. There’s money to pay for 16,000 to 18,000 new IRS agents to enforce compliance with the “Health Care Reform” law but:

a. NOT DOLLAR ONE for new doctor training for the 30,000,000 new patients this law will “cover.”

b. NOT DOLLAR ONE for new clinics, hospitals, medical facilities of any kind to handle the 30,000,000 new patients this law will “cover.”

c. NOT DOLLAR ONE for Research & Development to continue our dominance as the finder of cures for all that ails us.

This is about CONTROL, aka, a contraction of your freedoms. Remember a “gaffe” in Washington is when a politician accidentally tells the truth. Just yesterday, Rep. John Linder told the truth: “A lot of us have been saying for a long time that this has never been about healthcare. It’s about government.” That’s a direct quote.

2. Any moron can make 10 years of tax collecting pay for 6 years of coverage, which is what this new law does. What happens the next 10 years?

3. Forcing insurance companies to cover all pre-existing conditions is a lovely moral imperative, but will bankrupt them all. What happens then? Any moron can figure it out. Single-payer government healthcare. Picture yourself lobbying Congress for your MRI… How’s that going to go for you?

4. This is the first time in the history of the Republic that a we will have to purchase a commodity in order to be a lawful citizen. That’s demonstrably UN-AMERICAN and a very, very dangerous precedent.

These immature, gimme girls & boys used to instant gratification and helicopter parents are gleeful that the sun still rose this morning despite all our cries “that world will end” if this bill becomes law. Even their need for the destruction of our country can’t wait! Well, those of us with a few miles on us know these things take time. It’s coming. We saw it already with the situation with Walgreens in Washington. Why do you think that happened? Because government run healthcare “rationed” care by dropping reimbursements so low that it became toxic to a free market enterprise like Walgreens. That situation is our canary in the coal mine. More and more and more private medical enterprise will fall.

Just because it’s historic, doesn’t make it good. 9.11 was historic.

Just because it’s change, doesn’t make it good. A rash is a change.

FACT: The number one reason given by people who show up in the ER give “My doctor couldn’t see me fast enough.” 83% of the people that use the ER have insurance which is, coincidentally, the same percentage of people in America that have insurance. Hows that waiting time going to be impacted when up to 1/3 of doctors leave the profession as the New England Journal of Medicine just recently wrote they might, and as noted above, no additional infrastructure for care is in place?

FACT: Who is the number one denier of claims?  Private or Medicare/Medicaid. M&M deny more claims than ALL PRIVATE INSURANCE COMBINED.  Helooooo….. That’s rationing…

Other than the Military, what has the Federal Government EVER run that hasn’t gone into unsustainable debt or complete ruin? Just name me one.

None of the people who supported this bill can answer these concerns. They seem to be incapable of separating the need for health care reform, from the “fiscal Frankenstein” (The wonderful Rep. Paul Ryan’s phrase) that this bill is. Nobody wants body parts falling off in the streets. We just didn’t want this particular bill. All the sob stories on the House floor were an insult to that legislative body. They were preaching morals, not debating the legislation at hand. It was an embarrassment to this great nation.

As is every Progressive in Washington, most especially Mr. Barack Obama.

Mar 19 2010 Published by under Obamacare

Everything you need to know about who is who in this fight is captured in these two photos headlining Drudge right now.  One is a “paid” operative with a paid for printed sign (See Obama’s Organizing for America logo on top?).  The other is a homemade sign (No Socialized Medicine) with people who I would bet my house have never marched in protest before (or not since the 60′s) and are doing so for FREE and in honor of our FOUNDING PRINCIPLES.

The "Change" Obama Brought to Washington

Constitution Smonstitution.  Who needs the separation of powers when you can abuse your Executive Authority?  It’s ALL ALLOWED. Legal, even.  Even our Founders, who crafted that glorious document to protect us from such evil, never envisioned the wholesale lack of HONOR we are now witnessing in Washington.

Dems AREN’T Suicidal. They’re LAUGHING at Us. Here’s Why.

Mar 17 2010 Published by under Obamacare

I think these Democrats are fooling all of us.  Every pundit with a microphone is scratching their heads as to why they appear to be on a suicide mission with this bill.  They’re not.  They’re laughing at us with all those backroom meetings that aren’t on CSPAN.  Here’s my theory:

1.  We have reached the tipping point where those in the wagon outnumber those pulling the wagon:  51% pay no taxes, the other 49% pay all.  I don’t have that on authority, but I have seen articles from reputable sources within the last year that suggest we are either at or fast approaching that point. If this is true, then the tyranny of the majority will vote them into office over and over again with, perhaps, a small recess in 2010.  Perhaps we have arrived and just don’t know it, but they do.  We do know for sure that every reputable demographer says that we will be a majority afro-chicano nation by 2035.  Some say 2020.  Recent stories about the birth rate supports this.

2.  If they are willing to use the Slaughter rule to get this purely partisan monster of a bill foisted on us, there is no limit to their shamelessness, thus, they will push through amnesty and further populate the number of people in the wagon.

3.  This population of people, those happy with a nanny state, will be easy to manipulate with emotional pleas and since they will secure all educational lending, outlawing all private educational lending with this bill, we will have an uneducated populace in perpetuity because there will be endless provisos about skin color and cultural history that will demonize and exclude Western European history and meritocracy.

Sanctimony on OVERDRIVE… and WRONG

I try to do my due diligence and watch “the other side” to see what they are saying in the hope that I might actually learn something or at least be better able to focus my side of the debate, but I never learn anything, and usually end up drowning in the sewage of emotion they think is reason. I literally had to change the channel last night when Crazy Larry was doing this piece it was so over the top wrong. The sanctimony needle was pinning way to the right and damn near burst the glass… Thank GOD Michelle Malkin was able to stomach it to write what needed writing here…

Doing the health care anecdote-vetting the Left won’t do

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 16, 2010 11:27 PM
Here is Larry Scary O’Donnell — who can usually be seen frothing at the mouth with bulging neck veins as he melts down on MSNBC — sloooowly reading a teleprompter as he chastises me, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck for “attacking” 11-year-old Marcelas Owens. Nice to see your Valium is working Larry:

As usual, he gets basic facts wrong — like accusing Rush and me of being “desperate to catch up” with Beck. Actually, he’s got the timeline upside-down, as the enraged Media Matters chronology correctly lays out here.
My syndicated column raising inconvenient questions about Owens’ case appeared was published on March 10 and my follow-up post on Harry Reid hiding behind Owens was published on March 12.
Rush addressed the Democrat exploitation of Owens on March 12.
Beck then discussed the case on March 15.
Also wrong: At 3:28, O’Donnell falsely claims I called the parents of S-CHIP poster child Graeme Frost “spoiled brats” — a misattribution which he alsoregurgitated from Media Matters.
Also moronic: At 6:45 in the video, O’Donnell says conservatives can’t find a single person on Medicaid or Medicare who is unhappy with his/her coverage. Ahem, meet NYTimes columnist Nick Kristof’s favorite health care poster boy, John Brodniak.
Facts, schmacts.
At 7:25 in the video, liberal columnist Chris Hayes of the Nation decries the tendency of conservative pundits to “raise questions and point out errors.” God forbid we do that. Doing the health care anecdote-vetting the Left won’t do? FASCISTS!!!
O’Donnell dubs our analyses of Owens and his left-wing activist grandmother’s claims “childish attacks.” But it’s immature demagogues like O’Donnell who refuse to grow up. I repeat what I said about the NYTimes’ shoddy, gullible, unquestioning coverage of the story four days ago:
The Times fails to mention that Owens’ grandmother and family have been longtime activists for the left-wing, single-payer advocates of the Washington Community Action Network or that the boy and his grandmother traveled to Washington with sponsorship from the Astroturf lobbyists of the Health Care for America Now outfit, which characterized Marcelas as an “insurance abuse survivor.”
Never mind that there is not a shred of evidence that any health insurer ever “abused” Marcelas. Never mind that the family has made no claim that Marcelas himself has survived without insurance (in Washington state, low-income children have been covered either through Medicaid, SCHIP, or the SCHIP expansion program Apple Health for Kids). Newsbusters is also covering the MSM’s soft-shoe coverage of the Democrats’ use of the Owens’ kiddie shield herehere, and here.
The usual hyperventilating from the Left — horrible conservatives “targeting” poor, innocent kid! conservatives “assault” poor, innocent kid! — just proves my point. Despite President Obama’s repeated admonition that health care reform is a “complex issue that can’t be reduced to snippets,” it’s exactly what Reid, Murray, Schumer, and his Owens’ grandmother propped up young Marcelas to do. Anyone who questions the narrative and absolute moral authority of the kiddie human shield is a heartless, right-wing stalker who should be vilified, if not arrested.
As always, the current ruling majority is incapable of holding an adult discussion on the costs and consequences of its plans.

Natoma Canfield, the cancer-stricken woman who has become a centerpiece of President Obama’s push for health care reform, will not lose her home over her medical bills and will probably qualify for financial aid, a top official at the Cleveland medical center treating her told FoxNews.com.
Though Canfield’s sister Connie Anderson said her sibling is afraid she’ll lose her house and Obama warned at an Ohio rally Monday that the patient is “racked with worry” about the cost of tests and treatment, she is already being screened for financial help.
Lyman Sornberger, executive director of patient financial services at the Cleveland Clinic, said “all indications” at the outset are that she will be considered for assistance.
“She may be eligible for state Medicaid … and/or she will be eligible for charity (care) of some form or type. … In my personal opinion, she will be eligible for something,” he said, adding that Canfield should not be worried about losing her home.
“Cleveland Clinic will not put a lien on her home,” he said.

Tim Cahill slams Barack Obama, Dems on health care

State Treasurer Tim Cahill, taking swipes at both Gov. Deval Patrick and President Obama, boosted his bipartisan chops yesterday, telling Herald columnist Howie Carr on WRKO, “I voted for John McCain, believe it or not.”
Cahill, saying he was barred from the 2008 Democratic National Convention because he wouldn’t endorse either Obama or Hillary Clinton, said, “My own party basically voted me out.”
“I was afraid of what we had already been getting in Massachusetts, and at that point in 2008, I was aware that it wasn’t working,” he said. Separately yesterday, Cahill accused Obama of “propping up” the Bay State’s health plan with federal aid in order to help push the Democrats’ plan through Congress.
“The real problem is that this . . . sucking sound of money has been going into this health-care reform,” Cahill said. “And I would argue that it’s being propped up so that the federal government and the Obama administration can drive it through.”
Gov. Deval Patrick argues the state’s universal health care program has added 1 percent to the budget, but Cahill said the real impact is buffered by federal dollars.
Meanwhile, Republican Charles Baker’s campaign said Patrick “has consistently failed to address rising health-care costs in Massachusetts.” Baker, the former Harvard Pilgrim CEO, advocated for years for greater transparency on the part of medical service providers.
Cahill called on congressional Democrats yesterday to go “back to the drawing board,” saying he fears they will “bankrupt” the country.
Patrick’s campaign yesterday used Cahill’s health-care smackdown in its latest fund-raising pitch, e-mailing supporters that Cahill “is advocating policies that could put that access, and their health, in jeopardy.” Patrick, whose administration held a hearing on health-care costs yesterday, said exorbitant premium increases and medical service costs need to be curbed through legislation he has proposed.

This should be read and understood by all Americans. Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature:It is now official you are ALL corrupt morons:

-The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.
-Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.
-Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.
-War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor” and they only want more.
-Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.-Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.
-The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every “government service” you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars

AND THE GOVERNMENT WANTS AMERICANS TO BELIEVE THEY CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM??

Folks, keep this circulating. It is very well stated. Maybe it will end up in the e-mails of some of our “duly elected’ (they never read anything) and their staff will clue them in on how Americans feel. If that doesn’t work – November will.

Sowell’s Diagnosis

Mar 07 2010 Published by under Obamacare, Thomas Sowell

Upon finishing reading this article, I knew instantly I wanted to share it here, which naturally led to my thinking about a headline to draw your attention to it, or at least, a compelling first sentence beyond the headline.

My first thought was, “Sowell Gets Healthcare Right.” but then I thought, what if I were a liberal?  How would I do it then?

Black columnist, Thomas Sowell, who is of African-American descent, gets the healthcare debate right, while being Black.”

Did I mention that Thomas Sowell is black?  That must mean he’s right, right?  Because if he’s not, then I’m a racist, right?  Or is he the racist?  Wait a minute.  Black people can’t be racists.  He’s an Uncle Tom, right?  Self-hating black?  That’s got to be it.  Chris Matthews was right!  I did almost forget he was black for an hour!

This all makes my head hurt.  Wonder how much the Tylenol will cost once it’s free…

Alice in Health Care
Thomas Sowell
Tuesday, March 02, 2010

Most discussions of health care are like something out of Alice in Wonderland.
What is the biggest complaint about the current medical care situation? “It costs too much.” Yet one looks in vain for anything in the pending legislation that will lower those costs.
One of the biggest reasons for higher medical costs is that somebody else is paying those costs, whether an insurance company or the government. What is the politicians’ answer? To have more costs paid by insurance companies and the government.
Back when the “single payer” was the patient, people were more selective in what they spent their own money on. You went to a doctor when you had a broken leg but not necessarily every time you had the sniffles or a skin rash. But, when someone else is paying, that is when medical care gets over-used — and bureaucratic rationing is then imposed, to replace self-rationing.
Money is just one of the costs of people seeking more medical care than they would if they were paying for it with their own money. Both waiting lines and waiting lists grow longer when people with sniffles and minor skin rashes take up the time of doctors, while people with cancer are waiting.
In country after country, the original estimates of government medical care costs almost always turn out to be gross under-estimates of what it ultimately turns out to cost.
Even when the estimates are done honestly, they are based on how much medical care people use when they are paying for it themselves. But having someone else pay for medical care virtually guarantees that a lot more of it will be used.
Nothing would lower costs more than having each patient pay those costs. And nothing is less likely to happen.
One of the big costs that have actually forced some hospitals to close is the federal mandate that hospitals treat everyone who comes to an emergency room, whether they pay or not. But those who talk about “bringing down the cost of medical care” are not about to repeal that mandate. Often they want to add more mandates.
The most fundamental issue is not whether treating everyone who comes to an emergency room is a good policy or a bad policy in itself. If it is a good policy, then the federal government should pay for what it wants done, not force other institutions to pay for it. Then let the voters decide at the next election whether that is what they want their tax money spent for.
Confusion between costs and prices add to the Alice in Wonderland sense of unreality. What is called lowering the costs is simply refusing to pay all the costs, by having the government set lower prices, whether for doctors’ fees, hospital reimbursements or other charges. Surely no one believes that there will be no repercussions from refusing to pay for what we want. Some doctors are already refusing to accept Medicare or Medicaid patients because the government’s reimbursement levels are so low.
Similarly, if it costs a billion dollars to create one new pharmaceutical drug, then either we are going to pay the billion dollars or we are not going to keep on getting new pharmaceutical drugs produced. There is no free lunch.
Virtually everything that is proposed by those who are talking about bringing down the costs of medical care will in fact raise those costs. Mandates on insurance companies? Why are insurance companies not already doing those things that new mandates would require? Because those things raise costs by an amount that people are unwilling to pay to get those benefits.
If not, it would be a slam dunk for the insurance companies to add those benefits to the policies and raise the premiums to cover them. What politicians want to do is look good by imposing mandates, and then let the insurance companies look bad by raising the premiums to cover the additional costs.
It is a great political game, but it does nothing to lower medical costs.
Politicians who want a government monopoly on health insurance can easily get it, just by making it impossible for private insurance companies to charge enough to cover the costs mandated by politicians. The “public option” will then be the only option — which is to say, we will no longer have any real option.

Conservatives have a Better Argument for Obamacare than Liberals Do and Here’s Why

Mar 03 2010 Published by under health care, Obamacare

Liberals would argue that Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security are popular and people “like” them. Okay, but I think we’d all agree that they are broke, yes?

Left and right would all also agree that the USPS is broke. Like it or hate it, it’s broke. I know it’s not in the strictest sense of the word a “government” program, but, functionally, philosophically, it is, and I think we could all agree on that.

Everybody hates the IRS. Everybody agrees that you’ll get a 10 different answers to the same question from 10 different IRS employees if they actually bother to pick up the phone and bother to answer you and not put you on hold permanently or transfer you to nowhere. So the IRS, as a government agency, is also crappy.

Okay, so let’s look at the list of crappy and or broke government agencies:

Medicare
Medicaid
Social Security
USPS
IRS

Conservatives would argue that the only government agency that works is the Military. Liberals hate the military and believe the “military industrial complex” is evil and corrupt and should be eliminated. What we’re supposed to do with our fannies hanging out there with no defense against attack is a bothersome detail libs shoo away like a fly, but that’s another discussion.

So, if liberals would argue that even the Military s-cks, exactly which government agency can you point to as a model of efficacy to bolster your argument that the government should take over 1/6th of our economy by managing health care and credibly assert that it will “save money” or be “deficit neutral?”

It strikes me as ironic that CONSERVATIVES have a stronger argument for government take over of healthcare than liberals do because at least we can point to the Military as a government agency we can be proud of.

Without support of the one agency that breaks things and kills people like it should, liberals have their fannies hanging out there undefended.

Obama Talks about a Woman Who Wanted to be Buried in a Obama T-Shirt

Feb 09 2010 Published by under Breast Cancer, Buried, Narcissist, Obama, Obamacare, T-shirt

This is CREEPY… and SO WRONG on SO MANY LEVELS.

First of all, he’s doing that chin-forward-nose-in-the-air-taking-himself-way-too-seriously-thing-that-just-aggravates-the-heck-out-of-me.  And the audience does this uncomfortable laughter when they realize, surely to their horror, they HE’S NOT JOKING.
Second, it speaks to his unrelenting narcissism that HE is telling the story.  This is the kind of story, that if ANYONE from the administration should decide to make it public, is SHOULDN’T BE THE PRESIDENT. It’s vain and unseemly and beneath the Office.
Thirdly, this woman was dead of breast cancer in her early forties and under Obamacare WOMEN UNDER 50 WOULDN’T GET MAMMOGRAMS.  So to hold her up as some kind of example of why we need Obamacare is, as it is so often from this guy, disconnected from reality.
How much more of this can we take, seriously?  IS ANYONE on ABC/CBS/NBC/CNN/MSNBC/NYTimes, etcetera EVER going to commit journalism EVER AGAIN and start reporting this stuff?  Or are we doomed forever to hard investigative reporting on the cc’d emails to Todd Pailn?  Who, I might remind the Palin deranged, is NOT AN ELECTED OFFICIAL.  NEITHER MR. OR MRS. PALIN ARE ELECTED OFFICIALS WITH CONSTITUENTS so what’s the deal with your obsession?  And if you MUST attack her, can we get some clips and facts and quotes and stats instead of all this nonsense about “style”?

THIS is what we knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing neanderthals are worried about regarding healthcare. The part about rights being given and rights being taken away in the text is the heart of it.  Aside from which, if passed, it would be the FIRST time in the history of the republic that the simple act of being born here would require you to buy something from a private business.  How un-American is THAT?
